Forex: Commodity currencies end week sharply higher

The Dollar finished the week sharply lower against commodity currencies and the Pound and the Euro amid risk appetite. AUD and CAD rose on Friday for the fourth consecutive session, reaching weekly highs and erased June losses.

The AUD/USD soared almost 400 pips from Monday lows at 1.0390 to 1.0788 despite a decline in gold prices. The ounce finished under $1,500 after hitting 6-week lows.

The USD/CAD started the week at 3-month highs but plummeted and fell more than 300 pips, ending the week below 0.9600 at the lowest level since May 11.

The Kiwi closed unchanged on Friday after hitting on Thursday record highs at 0.8317. The NZD/USD posted the highest weekly close on record at 0.8270.
